F1 Mezzo Soprano

A ‘vocal diva’ with an understanding of all vocal genres. A richness in the lower register and a flexible pop ‘belt’. A more lyrical quality up to an F is also required.

F2 Crossover Soprano

A ‘leading lady’ with an understanding of all vocal styles. The ability to interpret one or two classical items – but the majority of the repertoire is pop based. Range – A (below middle C) to a top A.

M1 Pop Tenor

A ‘front man’ who has a solid understanding of all pop styles and a lyrical vocal quality for lighter, higher material is required. Range – Low A to top A. Bb is an advantage.

For Seabourn Encore, a rich pop mix up to top C and strong full sounding falsetto in the style of Frankie Valli is required.

M2 Pop Tenor / High Baritone

A vocally strong and charismatic ‘leading man’ who is able to perform Pop, Rock, R&B and Musical Theatre material. Range – Low A to top A. Bb is an advantage. Some repertoire includes one or two classical items.

For Seabourn Encore, the ability to demonstrate a safe full mix up to B natural, not a belt.

What is the repertoire onboard?

Each ship has its own collection of repertoire as well as An Evening With Sir Tim Rice, which features fleet-wide. As well as production shows, there are a series of short-shows on each ship designed to be performed in The Club – as well as a Classical Sailaway designed to be performed on The Deck.

Other exciting collaborations include new productions aboard the Seabourn Encore and Ovation created in partnership with West End Director / Choreographer Gary Lloyd.

An Evening With Sir Tim Rice

The acclaimed lyricist of Broadway, West End and film, winner of three Oscars, three Tonys, three Golden Globes and several Grammys has given us an insight into his much-loved work – Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat; Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita with Andrew Lloyd Webber; Chess; Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast with Alan Menken and The Lion King with Sir Elton John – to name a few. In 1994 Sir Tim was knighted by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for services to music and in 2008 his star joined the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Our new production, ‘An Evening With Sir Tim Rice’ is directed by Belinda King and debuted during the launch of the Seabourn Encore – and is now featured fleet-wide on the Quest, Sojourn and Odyssey. A new version is currently in production for the launch of the Seabourn Ovation in May 2018.

The show is a concert-style performance narrated throughout by Sir Tim, taking us on a musical journey through some of his best-known work. Featuring the four singers, accompanied by live musicians and state of the art visuals. Audiences in the Grand Salon aboard every ship learn how each song came to life, as they are drawn into the mind of one of the world’s most respected and iconic songwriters; enhanced by never-before-seen photos from his private archive.

Sir Tim himself will make personal appearances aboard the fleet, during speciality cruises.

“This is a first for me, it’s been an amazing experience, looking back over my career and the friendships that shaped it,” says Sir Tim Rice. “The result is a show that you won’t find anywhere else. I’ve been lucky that my work has been shown around the world, so I love the idea of this production circumnavigating the globe on the high seas on board Seabourn’s beautiful ships.”

What is life like onboard Seabourn?

Seabourn is one of the world’s most luxurious cruise lines. Their fleet features two categories of ships – the Seabourn Odyssey, Sojourn and Quest which sail with approximately 450 guests – and the Seabourn Encore and Ovation which are all-balcony suites ships, sailing with approximately 600 guests. Exceptional standards are expected of all departments, entertainment being no exception and we require performers of the highest calibre.

Our singers benefit from access to guest restaurants for all meals; restaurants aboard Seabourn include The Colonnade and The Grill by Chef Thomas Keller. Cast members also benefit from access to the guest gym outside of peak ours and the award-winning ‘The Spa’ with discounted rates. Our casts can also experience some of the incredible shoreside tours at discounted rates. Crew Welfare host great crew-only events and movie nights in The Grand Salon. Incentives such as internet packages, fitness classes and other benefits are also made available based on how many days you have worked onboard.

Each vessel has a unique itinerary which features ports worldwide including Europe, Australia, Antarctica, Asia, Caribbean, India, North and South America. Please note that due to Australian law, Australian cast members cannot be offered contracts which include Australian ports.

Under Maritime Law, all cast members are required to take part in In Port Manning and attend Safety Drills.

Singers do not take part in cruise duties but are asked to socialise with guests in public areas such as Observations Lounge and The Club. Singers are also encouraged to host guests for dinner in guest restaurants.
