Belinda King auditions are  unique!  For both Open and Invited Auditions we  audition boys and girls at the same time and -unless specified – we will want to see all variations of dance.

INVITED AUDITIONS
Invited auditions involve much smaller groups, depending on how many dancers we are seeking at that time, but  usually, there will be no more than twenty .  So attending an Invited Audition increases your chances of obtaining a place in one of our elite casts.
During the course of the audition we will cover various  dance styles allowing you to demonstrate your talent, however be prepared for classical ballet – including pas des deux and pointe work for girls.

In order to be considered for an Invited Audition, please send us your full CV including head shot and full body shot and a demo if you have one.  This can be in a DVD format, or  - if you e-mail us - a YouTube™ or Facebook™ link.

Your demo needs to be a demonstration of yourself in a studio environment, performing to the "right music”. By that we mean the music that you are actually dancing to, not a sound file placed over your demo so that we can assess your level of musicality.

Please make sure you include classical ballet, amongst other styles of dance. We are also interested in any other specialties – including Latin American, Tango or Russian & acrobatic "tricks”.

PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE ANY MAGICIAN /ILLUSIONIST  OR ACROBATIC ACTS AS WE CANNOT PROVIDE WORK IN THESE AREAS.

Once our Casting Department has received and seen your demo, you will be contacted if you have been successful in obtaining a place at one of our Invited Auditions.

OPEN AUDITIONS
Our open auditions are literally that – open to everyone who believes that they are capable of being a Belinda King dancer. We usually start with a Swing or Jump & Jive group session, progressing onto groups of four – and finishing with partner work.  Throughout each stage, we eliminate those who are not suitable for that particular contract. This doesn’t always mean that we aren’t interested in using you in the future!

During the day we cover various dance styles allowing you to demonstrate your talent, however always be prepared for classical ballet – including par de deux and pointe work for the girls.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT WISH TO SEE YOUR OWN PREPARED MATERIAL UNLESS REQUESTED IN THE ADVERTISEMENT

Audition days tend to be long, and the further you get, the longer the day will be… so we encourage you to prepare yourself!

PREPARING FOR THE AUDITION

It is essential that you arrive at an audition in appropriate clothing.

GIRLS – No baggy dancewear and please bring all necessary shoes – heels, jazz shoes or trainers, pointe and tap shoes.

Please do not wear any jewellery or piercings! Keep make-up light, and your hair neatly and permanently tied back.

GUYS – No baggy dancewear and all necessary shoes – jazz shoes or trainers, ballet shoes and tap shoes.

A change of clothes should also be brought with you, including tights for classical ballet.

We can’t stress how important it is that you arrive equipped for our auditions. The days tend to be long and we also don’t want your clothing to restrict your ability to move well.

Personal presentation is a very high priority in our casts, as with many contracts, a professional appearance is part of the job.

WHAT TO BRING
For Open auditions you will need to bring your CV, including a headshot and full body photo of yourself.  Both of these should be clear and current. Your body shot should not be done wearing baggy clothes, as it doesn’t give us an accurate image of your body type.

Audition days can be long and for a full day, we strongly suggest you arrive prepared! Please bring essentials such as plenty of water and food. We can’t guarantee that the venue where your audition will take place will have all the amenities you need available for purchase – so please make sure you bring sufficient essentials in order for you to stay hydrated and energized.

WHO CAN YOU EXPECT TO SEE AT AN AUDITION??
You can expect to see a small selection of people. Whilst they may vary, you will usually be seen by Russell Hawkins - our Head of Casting, a choreographer and an Artistic Director.

All of the music will be played using CD or MP3, so there will be no pianist or musicians.
